Sara Spigott

Sara Spigott is an active freelance musician based in Toronto, where she performs on oboe, English horn and piano with ensembles in and around the Greater Toronto area, including the Niagara Symphony, Windsor Symphony, Brantford Symphony, Sudbury Symphony and the Scarborough Philharmonic Orchestra. Prior to relocating to Ontario, she was based in her home province of Saskatchewan, where she regularly performed with the Saskatoon Symphony, Prairie Virtuosi and several professional chamber ensembles. She has also performed with the Regina and Red Deer Symphony Orchestras and as part of the Domaine Forget, Centre d'Arts Orford and Ritornello Chamber Music Festivals.Sara is also a dedicated teacher, having worked as an elementary and instrumental music specialist for school divisions in Canada, San Francisco, California and Seoul, South Korea. She co-founded and was director for Sistema Saskatoon, a music education initiative based on the El Sistema model. Currently, Sara teaches instrumental music and is the director of the Symphonic Band at Havergal College in Toronto.Sara holds a Bachelor of Music (piano) and a Bachelor of Education from the University of Saskatchewan, a Master of Music in Oboe Performance from the University of Ottawa and an Artist Diploma from the Glenn Gould School of the Royal Conservatory. Her primary teachers include Sarah Jeffrey, Charles Hamann and Christa Robinson.August 2024
